Established in Portland, Oregon in the year 1943, the Cascade Manufacturing Company began as a small machine store hiring just four individuals. Total sales for that particular year amounted to about sixty thousand dollars. The first recorded sales revenues involved the machining and assembly of stainless-steel valves, pipe fittings and other parts. Within five years of operation, the business had expanded to 40 employees and their annual sales volume had increased to $330,000. Nowadays, Cascade is among the leading global manufacturers within the material handling trade.

Design and manufacturing of the company's first hydraulic cylinder allowed this young business to aggressively pursue better business opportunities. Throughout the last sixty years, the industry of material handling has developed into a really sophisticated area with Cascade proudly playing a part in its development.
