Established in Portland, Oregon in the year 1943, the Cascade Manufacturing Company began as a small machine store hiring just four individuals. Total sales for that particular year amounted to about sixty thousand dollars. The first recorded sales revenues involved the machining and assembly of stainless-steel valves, pipe fittings and other parts. Within five years of operation, the business had expanded to 40 employees and their annual sales volume had increased to $330,000. Nowadays, Cascade is among the leading global manufacturers within the material handling trade.

Design and manufacturing of the company's first hydraulic cylinder allowed this young business to aggressively pursue better business opportunities. Throughout the last sixty years, the industry of material handling has developed into a really sophisticated area with Cascade proudly playing a part in its development. Cascade at present continues to develop as the leader provider of forklift accessories and different related products. During the nineteen fifties, Cascade began to fabricate, design, and promote its hydraulic attachments. A new facility was constructed in the year 1956, to house all the plant operations and offices in Portland, Oregon, which is still the company's current head office. Following 15 years of business, total staff reached 180 workers and sales had reached practically 2.3 million dollars.

A second production plant was built in 1959 in Springfield, Ohio. The year 1960 marked Cascade's preliminary move into the international world of the material handling industry when the business recognized interest in Australia, the Netherlands and England.

In 1964, the company altered its name to the Cascade Corporation. Afterward in 1965, the company went public with a preliminary offering of two hundred thousand shares of common stock. Ever since then the business has expanded its manufacturing services within the continental US to the areas Warner Robins Georgia to go along with its already current plants in Springfield, Ohio and Portland, Oregon. Cascade products are fabricated globally because of lots of subsidiary operations. In 1994, a new facility was completed in Almere, the Netherlands which is Cascade's European headquarters. Continuing to grow, Cascade expanded their product offering further in 1996 and the year 1997 with the dramatic acquisition of 5 companies, including the worldwide leader in blades, the Kenhar Corporation.
